Scholarships

Scholarships Available for school year 2024-2025

Explore the Judge Memorial scholarship options and read the requirements and deadlines for each. With the exception of the Centennial Scholarship (for incoming freshmen) the scholarships are for current students who are rising sophomores, juniors and seniors. Scholarships for current students will be updated and open for applicants beginning each February. Applications may be downloaded and filled out or picked up in the Advancement Office.

Centennial Scholarship

The Centennial Scholarship is awarded annually to four incoming freshman students. Each award is valued at $20,000 total. These merit-based awards will celebrate students who have already demonstrated significant achievements in their academic, social, physical, and spiritual growth.

ALUMNI ALLIANCE SCHOLARSHIP
 

The Judge Memorial Alumni Alliance Scholarship was started in 2007 when three Judge alumni teamed up to launch a permanent scholarship endowment fund. This scholarship is awarded each year in the late spring to a deserving Judge rising sophomore, junior and/or senior to assist with tuition costs for that student’s upcoming school year. The selection team considers the academic performance and financial needs of qualified students in selecting a recipient. Up to two awards of $1,500 each are applied to the fall tuition of the upcoming school year for the individual student(s) selected.

THE BEN WILDE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
 

The Ben Wilde Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of Mr. Ben Wilde, a JMCHS parent who passed away in 2022 from pancreatic cancer. The Scholarship was established by his son Texas Wilde, a student of JMCHS, and his family.

Ben was well known and respected for his deep compassion and commitment to selfless acts, always in the care of others, earning him the name of The King of Kindness. The intent of this scholarship is to honor a student who exhibits exemplary selflessness, compassion, strong work ethic, and good will.

The Ben Wilde Memorial Scholarship is awarded each year in the late spring to a deserving Judge Memorial student to assist with tuition costs for the upcoming Judge Memorial school year. The selection team will consider character, integrity, and financial needs of qualified students in selecting a recipient. While it is not a requirement of this scholarship, preference will be given to applicants directly affected by the loss of an immediate family member to cancer.

A minimum of one award of $1,000 will be applied to the tuition of the upcoming school year for the individual student selected.

BOB JACKSON FINANCIAL NEED SCHOLARSHIP
 

In honor of Mr. Bob Jackson, who served as a teacher, campus minister, activities director as well as Principal. Mr. Jackson inspired hundreds of students and fellow faculty members. His impact remains legendary. He had a passion for peer ministry, student leadership and helping those in need.  His life was one of service. 

The Bob Jackson Scholarship is awarded each year in the late spring to a deserving current Judge Memorial student to assist with tuition costs for the upcoming Judge Memorial school year. The selection team will consider the character, integrity, and financial needs of qualified students in selecting a recipient.

Scholarship Award:  A minimum of one award of $1,000 will be applied to the tuition of the upcoming school year for the individual student(s) selected.

BOB JACKSON LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP

The Bob Jackson Leadership Scholarship is awarded each year in the late spring to a deserving current Judge Memorial student in a leadership role to help with tuition costs for the upcoming Judge Memorial school year.  The selection team will consider the character, integrity, and leadership experience of qualified students in selecting a recipient.

Scholarship Award:  A minimum of one award of $1,000 will be applied to the tuition of the upcoming school year for the individual student(s) selected.

DEMI CANDELARIA SCHOLARSHIP
 

The Candelaria family created this fund in 2004 to honor the memory of their beloved daughter Demi, a talented and popular sophomore who died suddenly from bacterial meningitis in December 2003. The Demi Candelaria Scholarship is awarded each year in late spring, with $2,000 each for one girls basketball player and one girls soccer player, each awarded for the upcoming school year. The scholarship awards are managed by the Judge Advancement and Finance Office, and at the discretion of the recipients’ parents. Applicants must be a currently enrolled Judge female student, and a rising sophomore, junior, or senior.

EDMOND W. LAPINE II SCHOLARSHIP
 

This scholarship was created in memory of Edmond W. Lapine II. Edmond graduated from Judge Memorial in 2001 and was tragically killed in a warehouse fire in Oakland CA. Edmond was very creative, talented, kind, compassionate, and judicious towards others. His passion for music and writing began at an early age and continued throughout his life. He graduated from Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington and also completed an independent student in Paris. The Edmond W. Lapine Scholarship awards $1,000 to a Judge Memorial student who is an exceptional student in character and integrity.

LINDA SIMPSON SCHOLARSHIP
 

Judge Memorial is pleased to promote a scholarship established in honor of Mrs. Linda Simpson who taught English at Judge Memorial for 24 years and changed many students’ lives. The Linda Simpson Scholarship honors a student who shows promise in the literary arts despite personal challenges or hardship. This scholarship is awarded each year in the late spring to deserving rising junior(s) and/or rising senior(s) to assist with tuition costs for the upcoming school year. The selection team will consider the character, integrity, and financial needs of qualified students in selecting a recipient. Two scholarship awards of $1,000 each will be applied to the tuition of the upcoming school year for the students selected.

TIM KELLY SCHOLARSHIP
 

Family and friends created this fund in recognition of Judge alumnus Tim Kelly ‘64. The Tim Kelly Scholarship is awarded each year in the late spring to a deserving journalism and/or media student for excellence in journalism and purity of heart. The selection team considers the academic performance and financial needs of qualified students in selecting a recipient. The $500 award is applied to the fall tuition of the upcoming school year for the individual student selected.
