The Chamber Orchestra

The Chamber Orchestra is a musical group that is "specifically geared towards playing as an ensemble and improving special skills for playing string instruments in an ensemble," said Mr. Yavornitzky, the chamber orchestra director for the last 4 years and principal bassist for the Utah symphony. "This group is very much about working together as an ensemble."

The Chamber Orchestra meets every Tuesday and Wednesday in the auditorium to practice, and every other Friday with the concert band to play symphonic music. Student leader of this group is first violinist, Kristin Schlotterbeck, "who is responsible to lead the ensemble by example." Kristin recently lead the orchestra in their last concert as Mr. Yavornitzky was not able to attend.

In order to join the chamber orchestra, you must be a talented musician that plays a string instrument, "we try to accommodate beginners in this group, but they must be proficient with their instrument," Mr. Yavornitzky said. If you wish to join the group, please seek additional information from Mr. Yavornitzy, Mrs. Mayer, or your counselor. This past fall the Chamber Orchestra played a successful concert on Tuesday, October 28, which among other things was a small preview from the Christmas Concert. The actual Christmas Concert was on December 17.
