Angie Rowland, Vice Principal, gave a report from the Principal with updates on activities and athletics. She reported that the student enrollment was at 836. Angie addressed questions about the uniform skirts length. Enforcement of the appropriate length for skirts will be stepped up over the remainder of the school year, along with solid color t-shirts worn under the uniform shirt. Mr. Dolan left the school to work at Westminster College. His classes have been redistributed among the current English department staff and Mattie Reed has take over three of his courses. A question about contacting school personnel by phone was brought up and the parents were interested in why there was not a directory search function on the phone service for finding extension numbers. Angie will research the subject for next meeting.

Pam Sewell was nominated for vice president position and seconded. A vote was taken and Pam officially elected 2007-08 JPA vice president.

Jane Hall reported on the advancement office activities. The Phonathon is coming up on October 22, 23, 24, & 25th. To participate, contact Joyce Munson at 517-2131. The auction is November 10th at the downtown Marriott. Volunteers were requested for the set up during the day and working during the event. The upcoming Open House for new students was discussed. Matt Finnigan, Director of Community Relations, arranges individual tours for parents and students and is also arranging for student shadowing out of the Advancement office. The Parent to Parent meeting previously scheduled for November 6th has been cancelled due to the JPA promoting the Positive Coaching Alliance parent workshop in September.

Robyn Valdez was not present for a financial report. She sent information that the current balance was around $8,800. Anyone with outstanding requests for reimbursement can submit them to Jane in the advancement office.

Carla Morelli-Saurdiff gave an update on the JPA BBQ from the previous football game. The attendance was low due to the weather. Next year, she suggested we consider not using a caterer. The blankets were a hot item and profited $235.00.

Stella Lenzen (Concessions Committee) reported that sales from the previous game had been lower than expected, due to the weather. But, they were able to sell the chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, chips and brownies left from the BBQ. The previous two football games had been very well attended and sales were much better.

Anne Madrigal (Public Relations Committee) reported that she had volunteers lined up for both the Open House and the dinner for the teachers.

Pam Sewell volunteered to coordinate the JPA basket for the Gala. Her theme is ÒCaptain Morgan BasketÓ with a treasure chest for the basket. Cash donations were made after the meeting and Pam will purchase and assemble the basket and deliver to the advancement office.

Karen Thompson (Performing Arts committee) reported on plans for the flower sales for the ÒTommyÓ performance. Dates have been changed to accommodate the hosting of a football playoff game November 2nd. She passed around a sign-up sheet for anyone wanting to assemble or sell flowers during November.

Masuda Medcalf spoke about the voucher issue and voting on November 6th. There is information available at votefor1.org.
