Alexa Watson, a sophomore at Judge Memorial Catholic High School, snapped this photo of an egret during a trip to Mission Beach in San Diego last June.

Watson said the bird kept posing for her — or maybe it was so intent on hunting — that she was able to snap 20 or so pictures before capturing this one.
