Chess Club

Many clubs in the school are heard on the announcements every morning, or are advertised on the walls and in the cafeteria. But there is one club that is a little more quiet. It is the chess club. You don’t hear about chess club meetings over the intercom, but that doesn’t matter, "there are 40 people in the club, and that is being conservative." Says Ms. Voithoffer , who is the clubs moniter. What do you do in chess club? Well, it is pretty self explanatory… you play chess! "The club meets Wednesdays after school," she says "it’s actually really fun when we get a good group together because we have a championship within our groups." Even if you don’t play chess, the club is a good way to learn. "We have kids from every class in the club," Voithoffer says "we have freshman, sophomores, juniors and seniors. Actually, a senior, Roz A., started the club." So if you are interested in the chess club, come Wednesday after school and have some fun!
