The energy is back. The results shouldn't be far behind.
On the heels of a listless, disheartening loss to Juan Diego on Tuesday, the Park City High School volleyball team found its energy on Thursday in a spirited match at Judge Memorial High School.
"The teams were pretty equally matched," head coach Katie McLintock said Thursday. "It definitely could have gone either way."
As it turned out, the match went Judge's way by scores of 25-17, 25-20 and 25-21, but McLintock said she was encouraged by her team's play, especially on defense.
"Tonight they re-learned how to play and have fun," she said. "Both teams played really well tonight. It was a fun game. Everybody had a lot of energy."
Middle blocker Maggie Avila led the team with six kills and four blocks. Outside hitter Sierra Shearer contributed another four kills, middle blocker Hailey Whipple had three and outside hitter Tressa Buckland had two.
McLintock said setter Sammee Thomas and libero Shelby Johnstun both played great games, leading the team in aces.
The Miners, now 0-3 in region matches, hope to get into the win column Tuesday with a home match against Uinta. The varsity is scheduled to play at 6:30 p.m.
