Interact Hosts Benefit March 21
Judge Memorial’s Interact Club has returned stronger than ever this year with a new international target, Cambodia. It is all too common for children in rural Cambodia to never have the opportunity for an education. Young girls are often sold into prostitution just so the family can get by.
Interact is hosting an auction/benefit dinner on March 21, 2009 in the Judge Memorial dance studio to raise money for a girl’s dormitory in a school being built by a non-profit organization called The Cambodia Project. The event will feature Cambodian cuisine and a silent auction. Last year’s event raised for Chiapas, Mexico, and this year we hope to raise up to $12,000.
Tickets for adults are $25.00 and for students and Seniors they are $15.00. If you are interested in purchasing tickets for the dinner or making a donation to our cause please e-mail judge.interact@gmail.com.
Interact is Rotary International’s service club for young people ages 14 to 18. Interact clubs are sponsored by individual Rotary clubs, which provide support and guidance, but they are self-governing and self-supporting. As one of the most significant and fastest-growing programs of Rotary service, with more than 10,700 clubs in 109 countries and geographical areas, Interact has become a worldwide phenomenon. Almost 200,000 young people are involved in Interact.
Officers for the Judge Memorial Interact Club are Alexis Naylor, president; Jackie Graham, vice-president; Rachel Palmer, secretary; and Jonathan Nolan, treasurer. Among the active members are Teresa Highsmith, Weston Firmage, Melissa Nichols, Jaqi Pok, and Marquel Reddish. Mrs. Kathy Scott and Dr. Corethia Qualls are the moderators for the Judge Interact Club.
