2011 Boys' Golf Team Tryout Information
Tryouts for the 2011 Judge Golf Team will be Wednesday, August 3: 18 holes on the Mtn. Dell Canyon Course; Thursday, August 4 and Friday, August 5: 9 holes on the Mtn. Dell Lake Course. Tee times will begin around 1:00 p.m. all three days and tryouts will consist of one 18 hole round and two 9 hole rounds with the worst 9 hole score thrown out.
Please fill out the golf info sheet (see file attachments below) and e-mail the completed form back by Friday, July 15 if you plan on trying out. We need to know the number of attendees in order to reserve tee times. The fee for trying out is $40 and you can make your checks payable to Judge Memorial Boys' Golf.
There are other tournaments that week we encourage you to play in but are not mandatory. They are:
- Monday, August 1 – Bountiful Ridge Jr. Championship
- Tuesday, August 2 – Tom Sorenson at Rose Park
- Wednesday, August 3 – Tom Sorenson at Mtn. Dell
You can go to the Utah Jr. Golf Connection Web site for more information. If you play in the Tom Sorenson, your score will count towards tryouts on the Wednesday and your tryout fee will be reduced to $25.
We will also be looking at tournament scores throughout the summer for those of you participating in the UJGA or Junior Golf Connection. These scores will be taken into consideration. Please make sure you list them on the form.
We try to take as many players as possible each year. You will be notified by e-mail the weekend after tryouts. If you make the team, the fee is $125. This includes all range balls, green fees, a team shirt, tournament fees, transportation to tournaments, and the end of season dinner. Golf bags are extra but not mandatory. They are $125.
All students participating in Judge Athletics must have a physical exam every year before tryouts. You can get your physical through Judge at the University of Utah Orthopedic Center located at 590 Wakara Way. The fee is $25 and the date is Monday, July 18 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Practice will begin on Monday, August 8, 2011 at Mountain Dell at 11:30 and we will play 18 holes. We will also have practice on August 10 playing 18 holes(location TBD) and August 11 (range practice at Mtn. Dell from 5:00 to 6:30. There will be a parents meeting that evening following practice at Mountain Dell.
