Celebrating Catholic Schools Week '12: Thursday Reflection

The Utah Catholic Schools will celebrate Catholic Schools Week 2012 - Faith.Academics.Service. - the week of January 29-February 5.

Tuesday through Friday morning before prayer, one of our students, representing each grade level, will read a short personal statement on their feelings about attending a Catholic school.

The reflection on Thursday, February 2, is offered by Louie Franciose, Class of 2013:

"Why do I like going to a Catholic School? There are many reasons why, but the one that jumps out at me is the community that a Catholic School has. This can be seen in the exuberant school pride many students have in cheering on their peers; or a uniform that a Catholic student wears, distinguishing that student from a student from another school; or in the small school size where you know just about everybody you run into in the hallways, where you can make a quick conversation before heading off to class. The same can be said for the classroom setting where there is a smaller amount of students. That allows for a student to open up and be more engaged in classroom conversations, and if there is a problem, the ability to have a one-on-one conversation with a teacher, not just about school but life in general. All of this creates an atmosphere that makes a Catholic School seem less like a "school community" and more like a school family."

The reflection on Thursday, February 2, is offered by Rick Bartman, Principal; his weekly three questions:

  1. Who directs your steps?
  2. Do you dream of Godly desires or worldly desires?
  3. How often do you knock on the Lord's door?
