Invisible Children Friday on Dec 5
Campus and Peer Ministry will sponsor three Invisible Children Fridays on the following days:
- Friday, November 14
- Friday, November 21
- Friday, December 5
Students will be permitted to wear free dress on these specific Invisible Children Fridays if they donate $5.00 or five used books.
The book drive is sponsored by Invisible Children. The books are given to an organization called Better World Books. Better World Books sells the books on their Web site and all of the proceeds from our donated books will go toward our Ugandan partner school, Gulu School. Any book with an ISBN number is eligible to be donated. Visit this link for guidelines from Better World Books on book donations and submissions.
These special Fridays are scheduled in conjunction with the Invisible Children's assembly on Friday, November 7. That morning, the new documentary "GO" was presented.
Invisible Children is a media-based non-profit with a mission to bring about peace to Northern Uganda by reeducating children impacted by 21 years of war. Through Invisible Children’s Schools-for-Schools campaign, students in America raise money to holistically improve life, and sustain peaceful coexistence by re-educating the Ugandan. Invisible Children started with the 2004 film “Invisible Children: Rough Cut,” a revealing documentary about the life of child soldiers in N. Uganda who seek refuge from the fighting.
Campus and Peer Ministry encourage all members of the Judge Memorial community to participate in the Better World Books donation project. Simply collect your gently used books and give them to a current Judge Memorial student, faculty or staff member to drop off. Or bring them by the school yourself, and drop them off in the main office.
