Gift of the Drummer Project Underway!
The Judge Memorial Catholic High School's Gift of the Drummer program is underway. This annual program allows the faculty, staff, and students of Judge Memorial to serve as Santa for families that otherwise would not have a Christmas celebration.
The families Judge serve are referred by Catholic Community Services. CCS has had a record number of families register for this year's Gift of the Drummer program. In fact, this year CCS anticipates more than 1,000 families will sign up. Those families who qualify register a list of sizes and specific clothing needs for their children at CCS.
On December 1, each CP teacher at Judge Memorial shared with their CP the sizes, clothing, and wish list for the child(ren) on their list. Each CP organizes their Gift of the Drummer process differently, so please do check with your student for more info. Students may bring in their contributions any time through December 12.
The reason families register for this program is to receive new clothes for their children. It is appropriate to include toys for the children along with household items, but we are asked especially to focus on the families' needs for new clothing and winter items (coats, hats, gloves, etc.). All gifts need to be UNWRAPPED so parents can ensure that sizes are correct. It would be appropriate to include gift receipts to facilitate easy exchanges.
Campus Ministry thanks all members of the Judge Memorial community for taking this special opportunity to give a child, and a family, a Merry Christmas. Gift of the Drummer runs Monday, December 1 - Friday, December 12.
