6011/6012 EXCELL
Student Services Department
The EXCELL (EXpecting Competence and ELevation in Learning) program was designed to help two groups of students: those who have a diagnosed learning disability, and students who demonstrate the need for educational monitoring due to below average performances.
Counselors, teachers or parents may refer students to the program. Students receive credit in the EXCELL program on a pass/fail basis and are enrolled for a minimum of one semester.
The students are assisted with developing organizational skills, improving vocabulary and reading ability, and learning to be self-advocates in their education. Parents are informed of their child's progress on a regular basis through the EXCELL teacher/instructor.
The EXCELL teacher/instructor works with the instructors at Judge, helping them adopt simple techniques in their teaching styles to enhance the quality of learning of the EXCELL students and all students in the class. Students in the EXCELL program are evaluated each quarter. Depending upon their grades and the acquisition of independent learning skills, they may continue or discontinue enrollment in EXCELL.
Communication between teachers, parents, and student has assisted each student to succeed. Over 30 percent of students initially enrolled in EXCELL have been recognized on the honor roll.
Contact your student's counselor for more information.
