Social Studies
The Social Studies Department prepares students for the challenges of living in an ever-changing society. The knowledge provided by the courses will allow our students to appreciate how the interaction of people, ideas and events produce change over time; and to recognize how these conditions and forces produce continuity within society. Our students develop an understanding of their rights and responsibilities as American citizens and learn how they may affect change in a diverse democratic society. Through a value-based education, the students see the importance of being a person of integrity and compassion, and understand the need for the respect of differences in order to build a unified community.
