3712 Flash Animation 1
Computer Technology Department
Essential Knowledge and Skills
Students in Flash Animation II study how to design and problem solve animated objects and/or movies using Flash MX 2004. Students will learn to create storyboards in preparation for the actual hands-on designing of animated files. Students will study how to design movie clips, buttons and graphics to produce e-cards and movies.
Indicators of Student Learning
Upon the completion of this course, students will:
Communication
• Express terminology and problem solving skills in written form.
• Identify and classify various scenes, layers, frames and timelines within a project.
• Build vocabulary needed to communicate with other team players when designing a group project. Synthesize information to answer questions, solve problems, and communicate ideas.
• Connect prior knowledge and new information to expand understanding of topics.
• Share ideas and information in small and whole class discussions, using visual examples.
• Use writing as a learning tool, e.g., journals, learning logs, paraphrasing, summarizing, research reports, lab reports, and notebooks.
Problem Solving
• Create a storyboard, and apply the ideas into the final design of animated projects.
• Utilize different problem solving strategies including, the design of a story- board, testing movies and debugging within animated projects.
• Use analytical process to organize information, establish problem-solving strategies, solve the problem and analyze the results.
• Create movie clips within the library and place them into the scene level.
• Represent and solve routine problems encountered within the layer of an object.
Reasoning and Proof
• Understand how to access the library, properties and additional tools available for design.
• Present a creative movie using all the tools available in Flash MX 2004, including different timelines and layers.
Technology
• Design storyboards for problem solving animation.
• Use Flash MX 2004 software to design movies, e-cards, and graphical clips.
• Select and use appropriate images and sound to create movies.
• Select and apply online resources and information for problem-solving and real-world simulations.
• Collaborate with peers to use technology to compile and produce projects, and other creative works using Flash MX 2004.
Assessment
Upon the completion of this course, students will:
• Demonstrate competency in problem solving including; drawing, designing, and creating objects to import into scenes, e-cards and movie clips.
• Demonstrate competency in reasoning and proof by using scenes, layers, movie clips and buttons to animate projects.
• Demonstrate competency in communication by using the following; correct terminology, expressing ideas clearly, explaining analytical process, presenting ideas and projects to audience.
• Demonstrate competency in technology by creating and navigating through Flash MX 2004 software
