Essential Knowledge and Skills
Advanced Placement Art students will expand their skills and understanding of the visual arts by using paints, conte’, charcoal, line, value, shape, form, color and composition. All students will be working on multiple portfolios. All students will have to effectively communicate their goals and artwork in a critical fashion. All students will be expected to develop a new technique in their artwork. All students will develop and maintain a portfolio.
Indicators of student learning
• Mastering of new techniques.
• Effectively communicating their ideas in a verbal and visual format.
• Manufacturing portfolios of work to be juried by Advanced Placement Art judges.
• Constantly striving for excellence.
• Presentation of work in a slide or digital format.
Technology
• Books, Internet and film.
Assessment Upon the successful completion of this course students will:
• The completion of two portfolios based on the culmination of three years of work.
• Presentation of work to the Advanced Placement board.
• Mastering of techniques and aesthetic language.
• An obvious visual growth (product wise) from the first quarter to the fourth.
